Children

In our relatively affluent society, although severe malnutrition is uncommon, it is rare for a child to get all the nutrition they need every day. A supplement formulated for children, that tastes good and includes 26 vitamins and minerals in a real-food matrix for better absorption might be the answer for you.

When you give your children Glyconutrients supplements, you can be sure that they are getting the nutrients they need to support healthy growth and strong immune system. They are kid-tested / kid-approved, and have been specially formulated for key growth years to provide the benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables in a great tasting chewable vitamin.

Glyconutrients children's products contain 26 vitamins and minerals in a real food matrix for better absorption. Among these are:

  • * Selenium, vitamins A, C, and E, alpha carotene, beta carotene and lutein to help support the immune system.
  • * Calcium, magnesium, manganese, vitamin D and zinc for strong, healthy bones and teeth.
  • * B1, B6, B12 (thiamine) folic acid, chromium and vanadium . all of which contribute significantly to overall good health.

Is your child eating a healthy diet every day?
We all know that proper nutrition is one of the most important factors for your child's overall well-being. A varied, balanced diet-containing vitamins, minerals, protein, carbohydrates, and even some fat-promotes growth, development, and energy.

From early on, your child will watch you for clues to proper food choices. She will copy many of your habits, likes and dislikes. So why do kids turn up their noses at broccoli, and beg for ice cream? It may be genetic. A study of 143 children and their mothers done by researchers at Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia found that a gene called TAS2R38 may be responsible for children's aversion to bitter tastes, and thus to many healthy veges.

In this study, over 79 percent of the children had one or two copies of the bitter-sensitive gene present. Interestingly, the presence of the bitter-sensitive gene made a bigger impact on the children's food preferences than their mothers, whose preferences seemed to be influenced more by race and ethnicity. While this study may help to understand why kids don't like vegetables, it is still important to know that vegetables are an important part of our diet.

Monitoring Food Needs
Weighing your children occasionally is one way for you to monitor your youngsters' nutrition. There is rarely a reason for you to count calories for your children, since most youngsters control their intake quite well. Between ages 7 and 10, both boys and girls consume about 1,600 to 2,400 calories per day, although caloric needs obviously vary considerably even under normal circumstances. Most girls experience a significant increase in their growth rate between ages 10 and 12 and will take in about 200 calories more each day, while boys go through their growth spurt about two years later and increase their food intake by nearly 500 calories a day. During this time of rapid growth, they will probably require more nutrients than at any other period in their lives - from calcium to encourage bone growth, to protein to build body tissue. Every child's caloric needs are different.

An excellent tool for monitoring your child's physical growth and development can be found on the internet in the form of Children's Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculator
